Night of 1000 Angels

Rob and Megan Pakes and their friends arranged a dinner called the Night of a Thousand Angels to support families who have Rett Syndrome to have a conference in Rotorua, to promote research to find a cure for Rett Syndrome and to work with Telepaediatrics to hold a video conference for the parents who are scattered through out New Zealand.

With the donations from so many sponsors and helpers and our major sponsors Toll Holdings and Rydges Hotel in Rotorua the evening total looks as though it will come to $40,000. Rob and Megan have a list of projects which will nuture and support families and develop the research in New Zealand. Rett New Zealand wants to reach out to parents, grandparents, families and friends in New Zealand and let them know in spite of the challenges the girls endure their positive spirit encourages families and helps them find strengths to give their daughters a meaningful life.

We were given some wonderful articles to auction and we were touched that strong and inspirational sports people such as Jock Hobbs and Team New Zealand signed shirts to help the Rett Girls.

Carey Smith of RayWhite Auckland was a fantastic auctioneer, one felt one was missing out if you did not join in with his dynamic and spirited bidding.
